Google Chrome runs on a variety of operating systems and platforms, so while the version number tends to be fairly similar across platforms, the actual structure of it can be quite varied. Here we have the latest user agents for Chrome on a variety of popular platforms. Please note that these are very 'stock-standard' Chrome user agents and certainly don't. NOTE: if some sites have problems after using a mobile user-agent, and won't switch back no matter what you spoof, you will need to switch the user-agent back to Chrome.and. clear your cookies for the sites to treat the browser normally again.

To override the user agent string from Chrome DevTools:

1. Press Command+Shift+P (Mac) orControl+Shift+P (Windows, Linux, Chrome OS) to open the Command Menu.

2. Type network conditions, select Show Network conditions, and press Enterto open the Network conditions tab.

3. In the User agent section disable the Select automatically checkbox.

4. Select a user agent string from the list, or enter your own custom string.

The User-Agent (UA) string is contained in the HTTP headers and is intended to identify devices requesting online content. The User-Agent tells the server what the visiting device is (among many other things) and this information can be used to determine what content to return. Of course this requires using a device detection solution which translates UAs into understandable software and hardware information.

There are millions of User-Agent combinations given that UAs change with the software and hardware. For example, a Chrome browser on an iPhone 6 will introduce itself using a different UA than a Safari browser on the same phone.

Every device type, including phones, tablets, desktops, may come with its own UA that makes it possible to detect this device for any purpose. Interestingly bots and crawlers also come with their unique UAs.
